TOUCHLIGHT
Designed as a potential festival lighting solution, Touchlight was a student project for the Luxcity Festival in Christchurch, to commemorate the Christchurch earthquakes. The light pendant is pressure sensitive, responding only when the user applies pressure on the button, which creates a touch of light. The design is reminiscent of a lantern, and the triangular patterning is inspired by the tectonic plates that move during earthquakes.
Each participant at the festival is given their own light to wear. When called for a moment of silence to remember the victims of the earthquake, everyone can raise their lights and turn them on as a mark of respect.
